Oil Ministry’s staffs protest in front of UN office in Sanaa

SANAA, April 9 (YPA) – Employees of Ministry of Oil and Minerals on Tuesday staged a sit-in in front of the United Nations Office in the capital Sanaa to protest against holding oil vessels by Saudi-led coalition countries and the economic committee of the exiled Hadi government.

The protesters called, in a statement issued at the sit-in, on the United Nations to neutralize the oil sector from the deliberate targeting by the coalition forces and to carry out its duty to release the oil and commercial ships held at the port of Djibouti despite obtaining UN permits.

“A total of 9 vessels loaded with oil derivatives are held by the coalition,” said the statement.

The statement affirmed that the oil derivatives vessels’ holding has affected all service sectors like health, water, transport, agriculture and industry.

The losses and damage suffered by the Ministry’s sectors due to the aggression and siege amounted to more than 23 billion dollars, according to the statement.
