Industry Minister meets UN Early Recovery Cluster Coordinator

SANAA, Dec. 5 (YPA) – Minister of Industry and Trade Abdulwahab al-Durra on Wednesday met in Sanaa with the United Nations Early Recovery Cluster Coordinator in Yemen, Stean Tshiband.

The meeting discussed the cooperation between the ministry and the organization in the economic and developmental aspects, as well as neutralizing the economic establishments and supporting the vital factories.

Al-Durra confirmed that the government is keen to activate the coordination with the United Nations to restore the economic and developmental activity in the country in order to alleviate the human suffering of the affected workers who have lost their jobs as a result of targeting the factories by Saudi-led coalition.

Tshiband said that the United Nations is making great efforts to neutralize, finance and restart Yemen’s factories, noting that it seeks to provide 4000 jobs, 400 opportunities of which have been provided so far for workers in each of cement factories in Arman, Bagel and Tihama.

He added that the organization worked on providing the necessary support for the return of 100 employees to their work in the textile factories, confirming its readiness to support the development and economic trends of the Ministry of Industry.
