WHO reveals total number of coronavirus cases in Africa

SANAA, Sept 20 (YPA) – The World Health Organization (WHO) on Saturday revealed total number of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) on the African continent.

The total number of people infected with CORONA in Africa exceeds 1,390,000, WHO said in a statement.

The statement noted the number of deaths increased by 371 new cases over the same time period, bringing the total number to 33,621.

South Africa tops the list of African countries most affected by the Coronavirus pandemic, with 657,627 cases and 15,857 deaths, the statement read.

Among sub-Saharan countries, Nigeria ranks first in terms of infections and deaths (56,956 and 1094), followed by Ghana (45,857 and 295).
