WASHINGTON, July 15 (YPA) – US President Donald Trump announced that an agreement had been reached to send weapons to Ukraine.
Speaking with NATO secretary general Mark Rutte during a meeting at the White House, the US president said: :We’ve made a deal today where we are going to be sending them weapons, and they’re going to be paying for them.”
“This is billions of dollars worth of military equipment which is going to be purchased from the United States,” he added, “going to NATO, and that’s going to be quickly distributed to the battlefield.
For his part, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that “as part of the US–NATO weapons supply agreement, Ukraine may receive a massive amount of military equipment, air defense systems, missiles, and ammunition.”
It is worth noting that Washington halted the shipment of ‘Patriot’ systems to Kiev due to a sharp decline in stockpiles, according to The Guardian.
Regarding Russia, Trump announced that he had ‘friendly talks’ with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but he ‘felt frustrated by Russia’s continued attacks on Ukraine.
He threatens Russia with sanctions and tariffs if peace with Ukraine is not reached in 50 days.
“The bill is under consideration in Congress, which, if passed, could lead to ‘tougher sanctions on Moscow, ” he added.
