Sanaa discusses plan to assess water facilities venerable to danger

SANAA, Aug. 4 (YPA) – A meeting held Tuesday in Sanaa, chaired by Chairman of the Geological Survey and Mineral Resources Authority Ibrahim al-Warith discussed the coordination of efforts to implement an emergency plan to assess dams and water barriers at risk due to the flow of torrents.

The meeting stressed the importance of finding treatments and solutions to reduce the damages and risks of dams and water installations collapse due to the abundance of rain and the flow of torrents.

The meeting approved the formation of a joint and emergency operations room to follow up and implement urgent interventions in a manner that contributes to reducing the exposure of water installations to damages

It was indicated during the meeting to the necessity of working to establish a fund to deal with disasters and rockslides, and harnessing the capabilities required for field assessment teams and maintenance work, especially in light of the continued rainy season and the flow of torrents.
