WFP delivers letter to Sanaa regarding resumption of emergency aid

SANAA, June 30 (YPA) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs in Sanaa, Jamal Amer, received on Monday a letter from the World Food Programme (WFP) regarding preparations for the resumption of the second round of distributing emergency food aid, following a suspension in recent months.

This came during his meeting today with the Acting Resident Representative of the World Food Programme, ‘Pai Thapa.’

At the meeting, Amer expressed his hope that the resumption of WFP office activities in Sanaa would be a concrete step toward strengthening mutual trust between the government and the program, to be followed by serious practical measures.

The WFP acting resident representative stated that the WFP’s High-Level Envoy to Yemen, supported by leadership in Rome, is actively working with donors to refinance projects in Sanaa and restore their previous scale, which had declined due to funding shortages.
