2 Islah military vehicles destroyed in Shabwa

SHABWA, July 9 (YPA) – Tribal gunmen on Thursday destroyed two military vehicles belonging to Islah Party forces in Mayfa’a district of Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.

Local sources said that clashes erupted between tribal gunmen from the Numan tribe and Islah Party’s militants, against the background of the latter’s storming of a citizen’s house and kidnapping of a number of tribesmen in Baram area in Mayfa’a district.

The clashes resulted in the injuring of two citizens and several Islah militants, whom then were transferred to a hospital in Azzan city, the sources added.

The sources indicated that the Islah militants targeted villages of citizens with a number of B10 shells, causing severe damage to the house of the citizen Mohammed al-Arz bin Rashid Abu Turki.

Other sources said that Bin Rashid tribe carried out an ambush targeting military reinforcements of Islah while heading to the area of Baram.

Shabwa tribes called for mobilizing towards Mayfa’a to respond to the violations committed by the Islah party, since its control of the city of Ataq in August 2019 after the expulsion of the UAE-funded “Shabwani elite” militias.
