Mass demonstration in Yemeni Socotra demands UAE’s departure

SOCOTRA, Nov. 3 (YPA) – The Yemeni Island of Socotra on Sunday witnessed a mass demonstration condemning the escalation adopted by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council.

The participants in the demonstration held in Hadibo, the capital of Socotra province, raised banners denouncing the sabotage acts of the UAE and the transitional council militias on the island.

The demonstrators shouted slogans condemning the UAE intervention, describing the escalation adopted by Abu Dhabi-backed militias as a “void rebellion” and called for the UAE’s departure from the Yemeni island inscribed on the World Heritage List.

In past days, Socotra witnessed an escalation of Abu Dhabi ally, known as the Southern Transitional Council, through a sit-in in front of the headquarters of the local authority of Hadi’s government in the province, to demand the dismissal of the governor, who rejects the UAE’s practices in the island.
