TAIZ, March 23 (YPA) –Deadly clashes have erupted on Saturday between Saudi-led coalition rival militias in Taiz province, local sources told Yemen Press Agency.
According to the sources, the clashes were renewed fights between the Islah Party (Muslim Brotherhood) and Abu al-Abbas militias (Salafist group, connected to Al-Qaeda).
They added that clashes led to the burning of the Al-Muzaffar Hospital, a pharmacy adjacent to the hospital, two houses and three civilian cars.
The clashes reached various neighborhoods and smoke rose from blaze in large areas of the city, one of the sources said.
On Friday, several civilians were killed and wounded in the city of Taiz by mortar shells were fired on neighborhoods, with renewed of clashes between Islah militants and Abu al-Abbas militias.
According to sources, civilians were killed and wounded in the city of Taiz as a result of a mortar shell fired by coalition-backed rival militias on al-Dbou’a neighborhood near al-Miklafi building.
A violent explosion has also shaken the city of Taiz in the Bab al-Matajr area, which is witnessing violent clashes between armed groups affiliated with the Yemeni Islah Party and the Abu al-Abbas militias, the sources added.
Taiz province has been witnessing security chaos due to continued clashes between armed factions backed by the Islah, and Salafist militias backed by the UAE occupation force. The Wahhabi militia is led by Adel Izzi, nicknamed Abu al-Abbas
