ABYAN, Feb. 13 (YPA) – Al-Qaeda organization on Wednesday attacked a convoy of the so-called “security belt” militias backed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in al-Mahfad city of Abyan province, southern Yemen.
An improvised explosive device planted by al-Qaeda went off in a car of the militia while was passing in one of the roads in the city, which resulted in several dead and wounded from the militia members, according to sources in the province.
The dead and wounded were taken to Laudar Hospital in the city, the sources added.
The terrorist operations have recently escalated in the militia-controlled southern provinces as a result of the security chaos and the spread of arms in hands of the extremist groups backed by the UAE.
