Yemeni army launches offensive on Saudi-backed militants in Asir

ASIR, Oct.19 (YPA) – The Yemeni army and popular committees on Friday launched a large-scale attack on the positions of the Saudi-backed militants in the Saudi southern border province of Asir, a military official told Yemen Press Agency.

The army forces were able to push back the Saudi-backed militants from several sites off Alib crossing border, controlling over several Saudi sites, the official said.

Several militants were killed and many others were injured in the attack, the official added.

Meanwhile, the artillery forces shelled gatherings of the militants at the western part of Majazah district, causing direct casualties in their rank.
