KHARTOUM, Sept. 10 (YPA) – Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Sunday dissolved the government and appointed a new prime minister, in a move aimed to stop the country’s deteriorating economy.
Al-Bashir appointed the minister of irrigation and electricity Moataz Moussa as prime minister instead of Bakri Hassan Saleh, who was appointed in 2017.
Saleh, who was also vice president before the changes, will be the first vice-president, a newly-created post, while Othman Yousef Kubar will become second vice president.
The move came after al-Bashir called for an emergency meeting at the presidential palace for the ruling party officials amid economic concerns over rising prices and shortages of basic commodities.
