RAMALLAH, Oct.10 (YPA) – A Palestinian journalist was injured by rubber-coated metal bullets and dozens of others suffered from tear gas inhalation on Saturday morning during an Israeli military raid on the village of Deir Abu Mash’al, northwest of Ramallah.
Palestinian sources reported that Israeli soldiers attacked olive harvesters as they were picking olives and fired tear gas canisters at them in an attempt to force them off their land, causing several to suffer from breathing difficulties.
The sources added that Israeli forces shot journalist Issam al-Rimawi in the thigh with a rubber-coated metal bullet while he was covering the events in the village.
Attacks by Israeli forces and settlers against Palestinian farmers and olive harvesters have been escalating with the start of the olive harvest season across the West Bank. The attacks include physical assaults, restrictions on access to agricultural land, damage to trees, and theft of crops.
The current season has seen a notable rise in these attacks, which have taken on an increasingly organized character and threaten the livelihoods of thousands of Palestinian families.
