Taiz authorities reaffirm readiness to open, secure roads to city center

TAIZ, Oct. 10 (YPA) – The Sanaa-affiliated local authorities in Taiz province have reiterated their readiness to open and secure all roads and humanitarian access routes leading to the city center from their side, condemning arbitrary measures and decisions by Saudi-backed factions to close roads and worsen civilians’ suffering.

Taiz governor Ahmed al-Masawwa said all routes leading to central Taiz remain open and fully secure from the Sanaa side. He firmly rejected an unjust closure decision issued by Saudi-backed groups in early October.

Al-Masawwa added that security measures remain in place to ensure freedom of movement along the Aden–Al-Turbah–Najd Qasim–Bir Pasha–Taiz City route. He also said the Al-Hawban–Al-Qasr–Al-Kamb–Hawdh al-Ashraf road is ready for use.

He called on what he described as reasonable and honorable figures on the opposing side to take the initiative to reopen the roads from their side and keep humanitarian issues separate from narrow political calculations and gains.

On the humanitarian and economic front, the governor said ongoing coordination and communication with the Hail Saeed Anam Group and food and trading companies aim to ensure the continued flow of essential goods and supplies to residents of the city and other districts.

Al-Masawwa affirmed that the Sanaa authorities are fully prepared to secure and protect food and essential-supply convoys arriving from company warehouses in Hodeida or Aden, which is occupied, and escort them to all areas of the province, describing this as an indispensable humanitarian and moral duty.
