SANAA, Oct. 07 (YPA) – A widely circulated video captured dramatic moments involving a fighter with the Southern Al-Amaliqa Forces, a Saudi-backed formation, as he appeared near the Al-Ardi area west of Lahj province, threatening to continue fighting Sanaa forces until death, before the area came under heavy missile bombardment.
The footage, widely circulated by local media outlets and activists, showed the fighter speaking in a defiant tone before missiles struck the site.
A colleague appeared nearby amid confusion and chaos following the bombardment, while signs of the strikes were visible on military equipment.
According to activists who circulated the video, the fighter and his colleague were among the last remaining members of the force that ran over wounded prisoners from the Sanaa forces several days earlier, an incident that triggered widespread anger and condemnation among Yemenis.
The circulating footage has brought renewed attention to violations involving Saudi-backed forces on the southwestern fronts of Taiz and Lahj provinces, amid escalating military operations in several areas of the two provinces and indications of intensifying clashes and losses in personnel and equipment among the Saudi-backed forces.
The identity of the fighter and the exact timing of the footage could not be independently verified.
No official comment had been issued by the leadership of Al-Amaliqa forces regarding the video or the losses shown in the footage as of publication.
