Anti-war demonstration held in Athens against Rubio’s upcoming visit

ATHENS, Oct. 07 (YPA) – The Greek capital, Athens, witnessed an anti-war demonstration on Tuesday in protest against the upcoming visit of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The demonstrators gathered in Propylaea Square in the city center and then marched towards the US Embassy, ​​where police imposed tight security measures on Vasilisis Sophia Street and erected a barrier to prevent their advance.

In front of the barrier, the demonstrators poured red paint on the street, chanting slogans against the United States and Israel and expressing their support for Palestine.

During his visit, which begins on Wednesday, Rubio is scheduled to meet with his Greek counterpart, Giorgos Pierapetritis, and participate in the strategic dialogue between the two countries.
