Explosion and fire break out inside arms depot in Bulgaria

SOFIA, Sept. 12 (YPA) – An explosion followed by a fire broke out at an EMCO weapons storage site near the village of Tsareva Levada in central Bulgaria overnight, the second incident targeting an ammunition facility in recent weeks.

The governor of the Gabrov region confirmed that the fire spread from one depot to another, but no injuries were reported.

The facility belongs to Bulgarian arms dealer Emilian Gebrev, one of whose facilities suffered a similar incident last month. The Bulgarian prosecutor’s office stated that Gebrev’s facilities have previously been targeted by attacks carried out by Russian agents, in a series of incidents that have raised questions about who is responsible.

In a separate incident, Prime Minister Rumen Radev announced on August 8 that a drone exploded near the border with Romania, with no injuries reported.
