Aden health system revealed to be on verge of total collapse amid escalating fighting

ADEN, Sept. 05 (YPA) – The Health Ministry of the Saudi-aligned Aden government issued an appeal for help, warning that the healthcare system in Aden has reached a state of complete incapacity and widespread collapse due to an unprecedented escalation in armed clashes in Taiz and Hodeida provinces and the rising number of casualties.

The ministry said hospitals in Aden and neighboring provinces have been overwhelmed by unprecedented numbers of wounded and injured Saudi-aligned recruits, while massive waves of families fleeing the fighting have been displaced.

This has resulted in the complete depletion of strategic stocks of medicines, intravenous solutions and surgical supplies, leaving ambulance and emergency teams unable to respond to the unfolding crisis on the ground.

In its statement, the ministry warned international organizations, United Nations agencies, regional partners and donors of the catastrophic consequences of the situation, holding the international community responsible for failing to intervene immediately and provide health facilities with medical supplies, surgical equipment and life-saving medicines, as well as deploy mobile medical teams.

The statement stressed that the health situation now threatens an imminent humanitarian catastrophe and a widespread outbreak of epidemics and diseases among displaced people.

It said failure to take urgent and immediate action during these critical hours would mean the total collapse of the health sector’s capacity, leaving thousands of wounded people and civilians to face certain death.
