RIYADH, Aug. 11 (YPA) – Rashad al-Alimi, president of the Saudi-backed “Presidential Leadership Council,” has issued a decree through “the National Defense Council” prohibiting the release of independent military and security statements by any entity.
The decision excludes only the Minister of Information in the Aden-based government and the official military spokesperson for the Saudi-backed forces.
The decree follows deliberations over conflicting statements recently issued by forces affiliated with Tareq Saleh and the “Dera Shabwa” forces. According to political analyst Ahmed Al-Shalfi, the resolution revokes the official status of all military faction spokespersons and outlines several key measures, including:
- Abolishing the position of official spokesperson for the “National Resistance” and shutting down the “Military Media” platform affiliated with Tareq Saleh.
- Abolishing the position of official spokesperson for the “National Army” associated with the Islah Party.
- Abolishing the position of official spokesperson for the “Southern Forces,” the media apparatus of the “Dera Shabwa” forces, and all other platforms and spokespersons.
Political observers and activists described the decision as an unexpected blow to both Tareq Saleh and the Islah Party, framing it within the context of escalating internal divisions and efforts to curb the influence of rival factions operating in the Western Coast, Marib, and Taiz.
