Senior Sanaa leader reveals details of preemptive attack on Mocha
SANAA, Aug. 10 (YPA) – Yemen’s Ansarullah Political Bureau member Hizam al-Assad said on Monday that Sanaa forces’ preemptive strikes in Taiz’s Mocha area dealt a setback to Saudi Arabia’s efforts to turn the area into a military hub.
In remarks to Al Mayadeen, al-Assad said Saudi Arabia had worked over the past years to establish military formations and build up forces in Yemen, noting that Riyadh had sought from the outset to transform Mocha into a military center.
He said the preemptive strikes by Sanaa therefore came as a disappointment to Saudi Arabia.
Al-Assad said Saudi Arabia was surprised by the operations carried out by the Yemeni armed forces, particularly their precision in striking the military forces it supports.
He stressed that Saudi Arabia has no option but to submit to the decision of the Yemeni people, noting that Yemenis are more united than ever in their efforts to lift the blockade imposed on the country.
On Sunday, Sanaa forces carried out extensive military operations targeting Saudi military buildups and weapons depots in the Mocha area, using large numbers of missiles and drones.
According to a statement by Sanaa forces, the preemptive operation destroyed military weapons and equipment and resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries among the targeted forces, including Saudi personnel.
The forces also reaffirmed that they would continue monitoring and tracking Saudi military movements and buildups and directly target them.
The Sanaa military statement also stressed its refusal to allow any efforts aimed at targeting the Yemeni people or dragging Yemenis into conflicts in service of foreign agendas.
In recent hours, Yemen’s war media released footage showing the launch of ballistic missiles and drones targeting Saudi military buildups and weapons depots in Mocha.
Earlier on Monday, the Sanaa war media also released a video titled “Wherever You Mobilize, You Will Be Targeted”, delivering a strongly worded military message to Saudi Arabia and allied forces.
The video highlighted precise intelligence surveillance and Sanaa forces’ readiness to confront any military movements or buildups, signaling that deployment and mobilization areas would not be beyond the reach of its attacks.
Sanaa has continued its response to Saudi aggression since Riyadh targeted Sanaa International Airport last July in an attempt to prevent an Iranian aircraft carrying the Yemeni delegation that had attended the funeral of martyr Ali Khamenei, as well as Yemeni patients, wounded people and stranded citizens abroad, from landing.
The aircraft subsequently landed at Hodeidah Airport following the attack. Yemeni armed forces then responded by targeting Abha Airport in Saudi Arabia.
Sanaa has reiterated its readiness for confrontation under the equation of escalation for escalation and blockade for blockade, while the Yemeni armed forces have also imposed restrictions on maritime navigation to Saudi Arabia until the aggression against Yemen ends and the blockade on the Yemeni people is lifted.
