Palestinian Prisoners’ Club: Over 260 journalists killed since Israeli genocidal war on Gaza

GAZA, Aug. 10 (YPA) – The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said Monday that more than 260 journalists have been killed in the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since the start of its genocidal war on Oct. 7, 2023.

In a statement, the club described the deaths as part of an ongoing campaign targeting journalists and attempting to silence the truth.

The statement said it has documented more than 250 cases of journalists being arrested or detained since the beginning of the war.

It added that detained journalist Ehab Mohammed Abdul Qader Diab was the second journalist to die in Israeli prisons during the war, following journalist Marwan Harzallah.

The statement added that Diab’s death, announced on Sunday, adds to a record of Israeli violations against Palestinian journalists, including killing, detention and enforced disappearance.

According to the statement, Diab was forcibly disappeared for nearly three years after being arrested from his home in Gaza on December 12, 2023. His family received no information about his fate until confirmation of his death.

Diab was born in 1990, was married and had two children. He held a bachelor’s degree in journalism and media from Al-Azhar University in Gaza and worked as a journalist.

The statement also said that two of his brothers had previously been killed during Israeli military operations.
