Suspected Kyiv agent over planned attack in Kherson arrested by FSB

MOSCOW, Aug. 10 (YPA) – Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said Monday it had arrested a suspected Ukrainian intelligence operative accused of planning a terrorist attack against Russian forces in the Kherson region using an explosive device disguised as a portable power bank.

The suspect was detained in Skadovsk on allegations that he was acting on instructions from Ukrainian intelligence, the FSB said.

Authorities seized a remotely controlled improvised explosive device containing more than 200 grams of explosives, along with a phone reportedly used for covert communications with his handler.

A criminal investigation has been opened under Russian laws covering attempted terrorism and the illegal possession or handling of explosives. A court ordered the suspect held in pretrial detention, while the FSB said he had confessed and was cooperating with investigators.
