LAHJ, Aug. 08 (YPA) – Four masked armed men, believed to be Ethiopian migrants from the Oromo ethnic group, intercepted and seized a military vehicle belonging to a local official in Lahj province in southern Yemen.
According to local source, the gunmen took the car of Murad Jubah, Director General of Al-Mudharebah and Ras Al-Arah district, after threatening the driver at gunpoint and forcing him to hand over the vehicle before fleeing to an unknown location.
Local authorities and security agencies have not yet issued an official statement regarding the circumstances of the incident or details of the measures taken to track down the fugitives and recover the vehicle.
The incident comes amid growing concerns, questions, and calls to bolster security measures and step up oversight of irregular migration along coastal areas.
