UNICEF: 300 children killed in Gaza during 300 days of ceasefire

GAZA, Aug. 08 (YPA) – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) revealed that at least 300 children have been killed in the Gaza Strip during the past 300 days since the ceasefire was announced in October 2025, an average of one child killed every day.

UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Edward Beigbeder, said that a ceasefire that continues to see the death of children “is failing childhood and children,” noting that hundreds of other children have been injured, many of them seriously, while Gaza’s children continue to wait for an end to the violence.

The organization said that families in Gaza are living in tragic conditions, with many concentrated in limited areas under unsafe circumstances among destroyed buildings, rubble, and accumulated waste. Children across the Strip continue to face severe malnutrition, diseases, shortages of clean drinking water, and the absence of proper sanitation systems.

Despite the grim situation, UNICEF expressed cautious hope that recent steps related to the ceasefire could lead to an end to hostilities and expand humanitarian aid access.

The organization called on all parties to uphold their obligations under international law, including humanitarian and human rights law, protect children, ensure access to healthcare, education, safe water, and food, and allow humanitarian assistance to reach children in need safely, quickly, and without obstacles.
