Senior Saudi-backed commander killed in Marib

MARIB, Aug. 01 (YPA) – Osama Al-Radfani, commander of the Fourth Brigade of the Saudi-backed Dera al-Watan forces, was killed on Saturday in an armed attack, according to local sources in Marib province.

The sources affirmed that unidentified gunmen ambushed Al-Radfani’s vehicle along the Al-Abr Road, which links the eastern provinces of Marib and Hadramout, opening fire before fleeing the scene.

No party has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the identities of the assailants remain unknown.

The killing comes amid ongoing tensions between the Salafi factions that make up the Homeland Shield forces and armed groups affiliated with the Islah Party in Marib.
