Drone strike targets US-linked lNG facility in Egypt

CAIRO, July 29 (YPA) – British maritime security firm Ambrey said on Wednesday that a U.S.-linked liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage facility in Egypt’s Damietta was targeted in an apparent drone attack, marking the first such regional escalation to reach Egyptian territory.

In a brief alert, Ambrey said that at least one drone struck the facility but provided no further details regarding the extent of the damage or the party responsible for the attack.

Separately, Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum confirmed that a fire had broken out aboard two regasification and storage vessels at Damietta Port, without immediately commenting on the cause of the incident.
