ABYAN, July 26 (YPA) – Armed men, believed to be affiliated with Saudi-backed factions, intercepted and hijacked a passenger bus carrying travelers from Taiz governorate in the Amsurah area of Ahwar District, Abyan Governorate, on Saturday evening.
Local sources confirmed that the gunmen, led by an individual identified as “Nasser Ali Majhar,” opened direct fire on the bus before looting and hijacking it.
The bus driver—who was previously involved in a similar incident in the same area that resulted in three casualties and the prior impoundment of his vehicle—called on local Saudi-backed authorities to intervene urgently to apprehend the perpetrators and recover his vehicle, amid ongoing security chaos in areas under the control of these factions.
This incident comes just one day after a highway robbery and assault took place on the coastal road in the same district of Ahwar, which resulted in an assault on a resident of Al-Qatn District in Hadramout Governorate, during which his ear was severed.
