QUDS, July 23 (YPA) – More than 900 Zionist settlers stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, coinciding with the commemoration of what is known as the “anniversary of the destruction of the Temple,” amid the continued influx of groups of settlers, Palestinian sources reported, citing The Quds (Jerusalem) Governorate’s statement.
According to the statement, the Israeli occupation police allowed an increase in the number of individuals in each group participating in the incursions, reaching approximately 150 settlers per group.
The Governorate added that Israeli forces continue to impose strict measures at the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque and around the Old City, preventing worshippers from entering the mosque.
It noted that only a very limited number of worshippers were able to reach the mosque during the dawn prayer and perform the prayer before Israeli forces assaulted a number of citizens and worshippers.
The Governate explained that Israeli forces are heavily deployed throughout the various courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Settlers also performed the “epic prostration” ritual at the Gate of Mercy area in the eastern section of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
