Saudi-controlled authorities summon four pro-STC activists in Lahj

LAHJ, July 01 (YPA) – The Criminal Investigation Department in Lahj province, which is under Saudi-backed Aden government control, summoned four activists affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC) for questioning on Wednesday without publicly stating the reasons for the move.

According to local sources, those summoned were Hafel Abdullah, Al-Rousi Al-Azibi, Raouf Al-Subaihi, and Hind Al-Amoudi.

The sources said no details were provided regarding the reasons for the summons or the nature of any allegations.

They described the measure as an attempt to restrict freedom of expression, linking it to the activists’ public criticism of Saudi policies in southern Yemen.

Responding to the summons, female activist Hind Al-Amoudi said in a Facebook post that she rejected intimidation and would continue to express her political views.

She reaffirmed her opposition to Saudi influence in southern Yemen and said she would not change her position despite pressure.

The summons come amid continuing political tensions in southern governorates under the control of the internationally recognized government, alongside ongoing differences between local factions and the (STC).
