TEHRAN, Aug. 15 (YPA) – Iran strongly condemned the attacks launched by the Israeli occupation on Saturday against various areas in southern Lebanon, including the town of Ansar, the Ali al-Taher Heights, Nabatieh al-Fawqa, and Deir al-Zahrani, which resulted in the martyrdom of 11 people, including 3 children and two women from the same family, and the injury of others, as well as the destruction of residential and civilian sites.
The Iranian News Agency quoted Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei as saying that the silence of the UN Security Council and its continued inaction regarding the grave violations of international law and international humanitarian law is regrettable.
Baghaei stressed the necessity of halting Israeli aggression in southern Lebanon and the immediate withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories.
He praised the Lebanese resistance against the occupation’s aggression, affirming Lebanon’s legal and legitimate right to use all means to defend its sovereignty, and declaring the Islamic Republic of Iran’s solidarity with Lebanon in defending its sovereignty, independence, and dignity.
