Iran, Oman hold first joint committee meeting on Strait of Hormuz management

TEHRAN, June 29 (YPA) – The joint committee between Tehran and Muscat held its first official meeting in Muscat regarding the management of the Strait of Hormuz, according to an announcement by Kazem Gharibabadi, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the future management and maritime navigation services of the strait, in accordance with the memorandum of understanding signed between them.

The discussions emphasized respecting the rights of the littoral states while ensuring the security and safety of navigation, as well as the stability of this vital waterway—aligning with previous affirmations by foreign ministers Abbas Araghchi and Badr Albusaidi regarding the launch of this bilateral dialogue.
