BEIRUT, June 29 (YPA) – Several Lebanese political parties have raised concerns over the implications of the newly signed “framework agreement” with Israeli occupation, warning it could compromise Lebanon’s sovereignty and legal rights.
The Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) criticized the agreement for failing to explicitly mandate a full Israeli withdrawal, noting it relies instead on the ambiguous term “redeployment.”
The FPM warned that any agreement lacking broad national consensus poses a significant risk to Lebanese society. It added that the deal strips Lebanon of a crucial legal and international lever to defend its rights and hold “Israel” accountable, while criticizing the government’s failure to centralize arms under state authority and draft a national security strategy over recent months.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese Al-Raya Party rejected proposals regarding “experimental zones,” asserting the right of southern residents to a full and unconditional return to their villages. The party emphasized that the issue of the resistance’s weaponry is a strictly internal matter to be resolved through national dialogue, free from foreign pressure.
Al-Raya called for a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territories, the immediate return of displaced citizens, the initiation of reconstruction efforts, and the release of detainees.
