Hamas demands international trial of occupation leaders for torturing Palestinian prisoners

GAZA, June 26 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas called on Friday for the trial of Israeli occupation leaders before international courts for crimes of torture and violations against Palestinian prisoners.

In a statement marking the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, June 26, the movement said that thousands of prisoners are subjected to systematic torture policies, including psychological and physical torture, denial of medical treatment, family visits, and food, solitary confinement, and inhumane detention conditions.

It added that these practices constitute a flagrant violation of international laws and conventions, calling on the United Nations, the international community, and human rights organizations to take practical steps to stop them and to pressure for the release of the prisoners.

Hamas demanded that the fate of thousands of detainees be revealed, that visits be allowed, and that human rights organizations be enabled to assess their conditions. It also called for legal action to be taken to hold Israeli officials accountable and prevent their impunity.
