Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon leaves two dead

BEIRUT, June 26 (YPA) – The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced on Friday that two people were killed and another injured in an Israeli occupation airstrike targeting a vehicle in southern Lebanon.

According to a statement from the Ministry’s Emergency Operations Center, carried by the Lebanese National News Agency, the strike on a car in the town of Mayfadoun in Nabatieh district resulted in two fatalities and one injury.

In a separate incident, the agency reported that the explosion of unexploded ordnance in the town of Mansouri killed one person and critically injured another.

The agency also said Israeli warplanes carried out two airstrikes on the outskirts of Nabatieh al-Fawqa on Friday morning, while occupation forces reportedly conducted search and burning operations in the town of Markaba.

On Thursday evening, Israeli artillery shelled the outskirts of the towns of Baraachit and Beit Yahoun with around 10 shells, accompanied by machine-gun fire directed toward Beit Yahoun, according to the report.

The agency added that the occupation aircraft flew over southern Lebanon, releasing flares before leaving the area.

The escalation comes amid continued tensions along the Lebanese border, with repeated exchanges of fire and military operations affecting communities and infrastructure in southern Lebanon.
