STC accuses Saudi-backed forces of assassinating journalist “Aydah” in Mukalla

ADEN, June 25 (YPA) – The “dissolved” UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) accused Saudi-backed factions of being behind the assassination of “Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath” correspondent, Mohammad Aydah, in the city of Mukalla, Hadramout governorate in eastern Yemen.

The STC spokesperson, Anwar Al-Tamimi, stated in a council brief that Hadramout has become a theater for terrorist operations since the destruction of the “Hadrami Elite” factions in early 2026 by pro-Saudi forces, hinting at the involvement of the “Islah and General Peoples’ Congress (GPC)” parties.

Al-Tamimi further warned of the growing threat posed by “Al-Qaeda and ISIS” due to the empowerment of their affiliates in key military and security positions, and the deployment of thousands of militants under the name of the “National Army”—in reference to the Saudi-backed, extremist Salafi “Dera Al-Watan” and “Emergency” forces and Islah-aligned gunmen.

He noted that the assassination of over 300 military and security cadres from Hadramout over the course of 32 years was coordinated by the apparatuses of the former regime.
