Al-Arabiya correspondent killed in car explosion in Mukalla

HADRAMOUT, June 25 (YPA) – Yemeni journalist Mohammed Ayda, correspondent for Saudi Al-Arabiya and Al Hadath Channels, was killed today after an explosive device reportedly attached in his vehicle detonated in the city of Mukalla, Hadramout in eastern Yemen.

According to local and media sources, the explosive device went off as Ayda’s vehicle was traveling on the 60 Street in Mukalla. The blast reportedly killed the journalist instantly and completely destroyed the vehicle.

The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear, and no group has immediately claimed responsibility.

The occupied southern and eastern governorates continue to witness a state of severe security chaos and a rise in assassinations and retaliatory killings among rival factions, amid a complete failure of local security authorities to maintain order and protect the lives of civilians and media workers.
