Saudi Arabia closes STC’s HQ, Al-Zubaidi’s office in Aden
ADEN, June 14 (YPA) – The “Saudi Special Committee” on Sunday closed the main headquarters of the “dissolved” Southern Transitional Council (STC) loyal to the UAE and the office of its president, “Aidarous Al-Zubaidi,” in Aden city in southern Yemen.
The move followed direct directives from Saudi committee envoy “Falah Al-Shahrani” and was executed by the “Al-Amaliqa” factions. This action is part of a series of measures taken by Riyadh against the council since its dissolution in January, following the targeting of camps loyal to the Islah Party in Hadramout government by STC-aligned armed factions in late December.
In an initial reaction, STC spokesperson “Anwar Al-Tamimi” described the Saudi measures as a “dangerous escalation and unacceptable provocation,” as well as a direct targeting of the “popular will,” asserting that the council will not accept them.
These developments unfold amid ongoing political and military tensions in the city, following previous closures of STC headquarters by Saudi forces that were subsequently reopened by council supporters in defiance of the Saudi presence.
