Israeli occupation steps up aggression on Lebanon, targeting Beirut’s suburb

BEIRUT, June 14 (YPA) – Israeli occupation airstrikes hit Beirut’s southern suburbs and multiple locations across southern Lebanon and the Nabatieh governorate on Sunday, resulting in at least two fatalities and three injuries, according to Lebanese media reports.

In a joint statement, Israeli occupation’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed they directly authorized the strike in Beirut’s southern suburbs, stating it targeted facilities belonging to Hezbollah.

The renewed bombardment comes amid intensive overflights by Israeli military aircraft and reported demolitions of residential structures in several southern border villages.

The escalation poses a significant challenge to ongoing US-led diplomatic mediation and a fragile ceasefire, which took effect on April 17 and was recently extended through early July.
