GENEVA, June 13 (YPA) – 25 ships participated, on Saturday, in a solidarity event on Lake Geneva in support of the Palestinian people, demanding the lifting of the siege on Gaza and highlighting the suffering of prisoners in the occupation’s prisons.
The head of the Geneva Human Rights Council, Dr. Anwar Al-Gharbi, explained that the participants were of different nationalities, and many had previously participated in previous flotillas to break the siege.
He stressed that the event is part of a growing human rights movement to keep the Palestinian issue on the agenda of international institutions, and called on the international community to bear its legal and moral responsibilities and work to end the siege and stop the violations.
In addition, he pointed out that the solidarity scene coincides with the arrival of dozens of delegations to the Human Rights Council in Geneva, which begins on Monday, and criticizes the silence of governments that are either failing to act or supporting the occupation, warning that continued silence encourages further violations and undermines international law.
