US Senate debates bill mandating expanded intelligence sharing with “Israel”

WASHINGTON, June 11 (YPA) – The US Senate is debating the Intelligence Authorization Act, which includes a provision (Section 622) introduced by Republican Senator Tom Cotton.

The bill mandates the US President, the Director of National Intelligence, and the Department of War to expand and enhance intelligence sharing with the occupation government regarding most issues in the Middle East.

According to the American outlet “Responsible Statecraft,” the draft law prohibits any US administration from suspending or downgrading this exchange except under specific national security concerns, requiring detailed justifications to be submitted to Congress within 15 days.

Experts and former officials view the proposal as an effort to deepen security and intelligence integration, stripping future administrations of the ability to leverage intelligence cooperation during political disputes.

Critics slammed the push to codify an intelligence relationship through federal law as highly unusual, warning it bypasses the flexible agency-level assessments traditionally based on security interests and political variables, raising concerns over its implications for US national security.
