Sanaa approves plan for national ceramic tile factory to boost local industry

SANAA, June 10 (YPA) – A meeting in Sanaa chaired by Ali al-Hadi approved the establishment of a national factory for the production of ceramic tiles and related materials, in a move aimed at strengthening local manufacturing and expanding domestic industrial capacity.

The meeting, which included Deputy Chairman Mohamed Salah and a group of investors and business representatives in the ceramics and construction materials sector, reviewed the project’s preliminary vision, implementation framework, and development phases.

Al-Hadi said the chamber is pursuing a strategic direction to support industrial projects that enhance local production and reduce reliance on imports, noting that the proposed factory would utilize available raw materials in Yemen to localize ceramic manufacturing.

Participants emphasized the importance of shifting toward productive investment and industrial development, highlighting the project’s potential to supply the local market, create employment opportunities, and add value to the national economy.

The meeting approved advancing preparatory steps for the project, including technical and economic studies and financing arrangements, as part of broader initiatives to support industrial growth and economic development.
