WASHINGTON, June 09 (YPA) – A US Apache helicopter crashed near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday evening, and its two pilots were safely evacuated, according to the New York Times, citing two sources.
One of the sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the cause of the crash was not yet clear, whether it was due to Iranian fire or a technical malfunction, confirming that investigations were ongoing.
The incident occurred a day after Israel and Iran exchanged military strikes before announcing a new truce, in the latest escalation since the ceasefire agreement in April.
US President Donald Trump confirmed the pilots’ safety, while US Central Command (CENTCOM) has not yet issued a comment.
