Hamas praises Iranian, Yemeni support for Lebanon, Gaza

GAZA, June 09 (YPA) – Palestine’s Hamas movement praised the positions taken by Iran and Yemen in support of Lebanon amid ongoing regional tensions and Israeli aggression.

In a statement on Monday, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said the movement highly valued the Iranian and Yemeni responses, describing them as an example of solidarity and support among regional actors.

Qassem called on Arab and Islamic countries and organizations to increase political and humanitarian backing for both the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, arguing that current developments require broader regional support.

He added that Hamas has received assurances from Iranian and Yemeni officials regarding efforts to help end ongoing hostilities in the region, including the conflict in Gaza.

The Hamas spokesperson also noted Iran’s continued political and other forms of support for the Palestinian cause, as well as its backing for ceasefire efforts.

He expressed hope that regional support would contribute to ending the war in Gaza and that the situation in the enclave would remain a central issue in ongoing regional discussions.

Regarding negotiations, Qassem said Hamas is engaging positively with proposals being discussed in Cairo and reiterated the movement’s desire to reach an agreement that would lead to a ceasefire, ease humanitarian suffering, and address the worsening conditions in Gaza.
