France awards Palestinian Red Crescent Society National Order of Merit

PARIS, June 03 (YPA) – The French Republic awarded the President of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, Younis Al-Khatib, the French National Order of Merit, during a ceremony held at the Society’s headquarters, in the presence of the French Consul General in Quds (Jerusalem), Nicolas Cassianides.

The French Consul presented the medal to the President of the Society in recognition of his continuous efforts since assuming the presidency of the Palestine Red Crescent in 2000 to develop and provide emergency medical and relief services to all citizens throughout Palestine without exception.

This honor comes in recognition of the work of the Palestine Red Crescent Society, its staff, and volunteers, who have continued to perform their duties under extremely difficult conditions, often at the expense of their personal safety, particularly in the Gaza Strip.

It is worth noting that the French National Order of Merit is the second highest national order in France; It was established by former President Charles de Gaulle on December 3, 1963.

This order primarily aims to reward outstanding achievements and merits, and is awarded to civilians and military personnel, both French and foreign, in recognition of their distinguished service and public contributions.
