Israeli occupation expands targeting female students, arrests 4 Palestinians from Birzeit University in Ramallah
RAMALLAH, June 03 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces arrested four Palestinian female students and alumnae of Birzeit University during a series of raids conducted across various areas in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate.
The arrests included Natalie Abu Diya—a student in the media department and a former player for the Palestinian Women’s National Football Team—and student Golan Abu Awad from the town of Birzeit, as well as alumna Layla Nael Khail from Betunia, and student Sama Safi from Ramallah city.
Birzeit University condemned the arrests, describing them as a systematic policy targeting Palestinian education.
Concurrently, the Palestinian Football Association denounced the detention of player Natalie Abu Diya, calling it a continuous violation of Palestinian rights.
These arrests come amid ongoing raids in the West Bank, at a time when the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club noted that the number of Palestinian prisoners in occupation jails has exceeded 9,600, including 89 women and approximately 350 children.
