GAZA, Oct. 20 (YPA) – The World Food Programme (WFP) announced it will be forced to reduce the provision of hot meals in the Gaza Strip from daily to every other day due to a decline in funding.
In a blog post on X on Tuesday, the WFP said that families in Gaza, three years into the crisis, are still struggling to survive and their needs have not decreased, but funding has fallen. Its Country Director in Palestine, Sean Hughes, explained that the funding shortage forced the program to take this measure.
The WFP had announced on Monday that it was halting aid to nearly half a million people in the Strip, reducing beneficiaries from 1.6 million to 1.1 million, according to Acting Executive Director Carl Skau, amid fears that conditions will worsen as winter approaches.
This comes as the Israeli enemy army, since October 7, 2023, with American and European support, has committed crimes of genocide, siege, and starvation, resulting in the martyrdom of 74,480 Palestinian civilians, most of them children and women, and the injury of 175,539 to date, whereas thousands of victims remain under the rubble.
