16 Lebanese civilians killed, others wounded in brutal Israeli attacks

BEIRUT, May 20 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces continued deadly airstrikes across southern and western Lebanon on Tuesday, killing at least 16 civilians, including women and children, and wounding several others in what Lebanese sources described as an escalating campaign targeting civilian areas, Lebanese media outlets reported.

In one of the deadliest attacks, Israeli warplanes struck the town of Deir Qanoun al-Nahr in southern Lebanon, killing more than 10 civilians, including children, and injuring several others.

Lebanon’s Public Health Emergency Operations Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Public Health, said in a statement that the preliminary death toll from the strike on the town in the Tyre district stood at 10 dead, including three children and three women, in addition to three wounded civilians, among them a young girl.

In a separate attack on Tuesday, four civilians were killed in the southern town of Kfar Sir, according to preliminary reports.

Lebanese media also reported that one person was killed after an Israeli drone struck a motorcycle in the town of Froun, while another civilian was killed and one injured in an airstrike targeting a vehicle in Harouf, also in southern Lebanon.

Lebanese sources accused Israel of deliberately targeting civilians, citing repeated strikes on passing vehicles and motorcycles as evidence of intentional attacks.

Meanwhile, reports emerged that Israeli forces allegedly abducted three Lebanese citizens after crossing into areas between Kfar Hamam and Kfar Chouba in Nabatieh province, in what local sources described as an expanding pattern of violations against civilians in border regions.

The Israeli occupation army also issued evacuation warnings for several towns in the Tyre, Nabatieh, and western Bekaa districts, including Touline, Habboush, Tyre Debba, and Jibsheet.

Additional Israeli strikes targeted Zawtar al-Sharqiyeh, Kfarraman, and Dbine, while drones continued low-altitude flights over several southern towns.

The attacks come despite the continuation of the Lebanese-Israeli direct negotiation framework, underscoring the occupation’s ongoing escalation against civilians in Lebanon.
