WASHINGTON, May 14 (YPA) – The American website “Defense News” reported that the United States has canceled plans to deploy more than 4,000 personnel from the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division to Poland.
In a related context, the Polish Chief of General Staff, Wiesław Kukuła, discussed the possibility of increasing the US military presence in the country with the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and Commander of US European Command, Alexus Grynkewich.
These developments follow statements by President Donald Trump regarding the potential transfer of a portion of US forces stationed in Germany to Poland, stemming from disagreements with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Trump had previously announced a plan to reduce troop levels in Germany by over 5,000 soldiers following Merz’s criticisms of the US military campaign against Iran.
