ADEN, May 12 (YPA) – Activists within the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) circulated an unprecedented threat on Tuesday, in which the so-called “Southern Forces” vowed to target Saudi-backed forces stationed in Aden and southern governorates using unmanned aerial vehicles (drones).
A brief statement warned that any military parade scheduled for May 22—whether in Aden’s Parade Square or Al-Anad Base—to mark the anniversary of Yemeni Unity (May 22, 1990), would be considered a “legitimate target” for drone strikes, viewing such events as a provocation to STC supporters (who seek secession and the restoration of the South state, as they claim).
This escalation follows reports of arrangements led by Minister of Defense “Taher Al-Aqili” and Saudi military envoy “Falah Al-Shahrani” to hold a parade for the “Dera Al-Watan” forces.
Observers view these moves as a direct threat to the STC, which continues to maintain an arsenal of Emirati weaponry and drones in storage sites across Dhalea, Radfan, and Yafea.
