Yemeni parliament warns Saudi-led coalition countries against undermining Yemen’s unity, sovereignty
SANAA, May 06 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based Yemeni Parliament condemned efforts to undermine national sovereignty, cautioning against the implications of a Saudi announcement regarding a draft memorandum of understanding with an entity linked to what it termed the Saudi-backed Aden government in the geological survey sector.
In a statement, the parliament said the move poses serious risks to Yemen’s geological data and sovereign information, viewing it as a breach of national security on both economic and military levels.
The council warned against any arrangements that could jeopardize or exploit national resources under any pretext, stressing that participation in such measures constitutes a violation of sovereignty and a deviation from the national interest.
It also reaffirmed its categorical rejection of granting any authority to manage the country’s resources outside constitutional frameworks, emphasizing that agreements concluded by entities not representing the Yemeni state carry no legal standing and are not binding on the Republic of Yemen.
The statement urged media outlets and relevant actors to assume their responsibilities in confronting attempts to tamper with sovereign wealth, vowing to hold accountable any parties found to be undermining Yemen’s unity or resources.
